Wine Trip in North Georgia
For Natalie’s 40th birthday party, she arranged for a bunch of us to join her on a wine trip in North Georgia.
As a lover of wine going way back (when I studied abroad in Australia, I was equally comfortable with box wine as I was being a member of my university’s wine society, LOL), this kind of event definitely piqued my interest.
It allowed me to celebrate my good friend Nat, and spend the day laughing and sipping different kinds of wine cultivated locally by experts.
Our day started early with a brunch at Andrea’s house, and then off to meet our tour guides, Pop The Cork Wine Tours. I highly recommend this black-owned business; they know their stuff, are extremely hospitable, and made for a very pleasant day spent in North Georgia.
We drove about 90 minutes north and visited four different wineries. The first winery we went to had a great vista. Our driver knew how to get cute photos of us.
And we picked up tons of useful little tips. For instance, when you swirl a wine to let it breathe, try swirling it without lifting the glass off the table; you get the same swirl without the risk of sloshing wine all over your clothes:
My favorite winery was Stonewall Creek; the wine was delicious and the proprietor cracked us up with folktales.
We also had lunch there, and a beautiful tart cake for Natalie.
All in all, it was a fantastic day! Cheers to that!
