Indian Dinner with The Learning Tea
I'd like to tell you about a cool fundraising dinner called A Taste of India, hosted by The Learning Tea. Located at Dr. Bombay's Bakery, Restaurant, & Tea House in Candler Park neighborhood, this three-course vegetarian Indian dinner costs $20 and is hosted on the last Monday of every month, with 100% of the proceeds directly funding the education of 11 girls in a small village in India.
These girls have been plucked from a truly grim reality that may include sex trafficking, homelessness, and worse, and relocated to a life of education, safe shelter, community, and love. Most importantly, these girls have a future.
Our mission is to provide life scholarships to impoverished young women in India by giving them the opportunity to continue their education through university. The Learning Tea pays for complete tuition and living expenses for our young scholars while providing a safe and stable dormitory living environment. ~ The Learning Tea

We attended January's dinner, and it was quite a blisteringly cold night that night. I'd never been to Dr. Bombay's before, but looking inside the window, it looked quite warm and cozy in there!
Inside was as welcoming as you'd hope. I half expected to see a fire crackling along in a fireplace off in a corner.
Everyone piles on to the long bench tables and sits side by side, enjoying the friends they arrived with, or making new ones!
The decor is homey, learned, bookwormy, and fun to poke around. We dined underneath a ceiling covered in hanging lanterns and lamps shades. Jenn captured a pic.
Framed art covered nearly every inch of wall space, sometimes exposing a small peek of brick wall. A small piano eyed me temptingly, but I resisted the urge to play a rousing rendition of Chopsticks for everyone.
The dinner was modest but quite good.
I actually didn't get very many pictures because we were chatting so much, and I stopped paying attention to photographing. But I got a few for you!
This coconut ice cream was everything. Creamy beyond belief, kind of like a gelato. So flavorful.
The last photo was a cold-steeped tea, not beer. Cheers anyway, though.
Jenn's earrings are one of her own custom creations at her shop, Drea James Designs. I've bought earrings right off her ears before, and I almost did that again with these beauties.
